This week a really packed episode of Digital Music Trends: my guests are Christiane Kinney (http://musicalredhead.com & partner at LeClairRyan) and Alejandro Marin (http://lamasmusica.com & http://themusicpimp.com), but on this show we also have appearances from Andreas Liffgarden co-founder of Soundtrack Your Brand who talks to us about Spotify Business, the CEO of Upfront Ray Lee the company that created the Deadmau5 subscription app and an extract from my interview with Jeremy Silver on his new book Digital Medieval.

On this week’s show of course the we cover the short-lived possibility of Twitter acquiring SoundCloud, the lawsuit against Beats Music, the Michael Jackson hologram at the Billboard Music Awards, the majors making an investment in Shazam, and Lovelive tv launching on LG smart TVs.

I really hope you enjoy the show and please do send any feedback you may have on what we talked about or on stories we may have missed out on to contact@digitalmusictrends.com or to @digimusictrends on Twitter.

Have a fantastic week and ’till next time!

Ep.43: Transmitter YouTube channel with the BPI and LoveLive (DMT 1-2-1)

This week on the DMT 1-2-1 show a feature on the new YouTube channel Transmitter launched as a joint venture between the BPI and LoveLive. Recorded at the Trasmitter studios, I chat with Geoff Taylor, Chief Executive at the BPI, and William McGillivray, Head of Content and Programming at LoveLive.

Transmitter launched in November 2013 as a response to the shrinking number of programs dedicated to music on TV, aiming to provide exposure to new and established British artists via a combination of YouTube-friendly video formats like live performances, incongruous cover versions, Q&As and special challenges. The channel is also planning to start live streaming shows on a regular basis starting as soon as February.

We talk about Transmitter’s origins and development, its aims, plans for growth, its reception by the labels/artists and much more.

I really hope you enjoy the show, have a great week and ’till next time!
