And at the end of the show a nice surprise for you all – like in the past two weeks I added two interviews from SXSW, the first being with Kjartan Slette, the Head of Strategy at music streaming service WiMP, and the second with Julien Mitelberg, the CEO at BandsInTown.

Ep.52: William Coates from Digital Tunes on setting up a download store, bitcoin, curation & more

This week on the DMT 1-2-1 show a great chat with William Coates, the co-founder and CEO of Digital Tunes, an underground electronic music download store that started out in 2006 but has just undergone a major redesign. Digital Tunes was one of the first stores to allow lossless downloads of digital music and in early 2013 it was probably the first music store to accept BitCoin payments. We chat about the start of the company, challenges around curation, relationship with the labels and much more.

Have a great week and ’till next time.
