This week on Digital Music Trends it was a pleasure to welcome Darren Hemmings (Motive Unknown) and Jules Parker (Polaroid Management) as we power through the week’s news in digital music including:
– a lengthy debate on the inclusion of streaming data in the UK’s streaming chart
– an analysis of T-Mobile’s Music Freedom initiative: does it endanger Net Neutrality?
– another development in the YouTube Music saga as the contract proposed to independent labels leaks, is the fight becoming too public?
– the BBC’s new music strategy
– Patreon’s new round of funding
…. and much more….

I really hope you enjoy the show, have a fantastic week and ’till next time!

digital music trends dmt 1-2-1

Ep.30: BBC Playlister, a walkthrough plus interviews with the BBC, Deezer & Spotify (DMT 1-2-1)

This week on the DMT 1-2-1 a feature on the new BBC Playlister service that launched this week, the Playlister enables listeners and viewers of BBC programs to easily find tracks they enjoyed and add them to a playlist that can then be exported to third party services like Spotify, YouTube and Deezer. DMT attended the launch event in London and so after a quick walkthrough this show features three short interviews with Mark Friend (Radio Multiplatforms Controller, BBC), Mark Foster (MD UK & Ireland, Deezer) and Chris Maples (VP Europe, Spotify).

The Playlister is a pretty exciting step for a large organization like the BBC that has such big influence on music curation especially here in the UK. Check it out and let me know what you think on contact@digitalmusictrends.com.

I hope you enjoy the show, have a great week and ’till next time!
